Feeling Alive!

Day 2

Day two Deepak tells us that desire is natural and creative act. Fulfilling your desires is to fulfill your intensions. He says something here that struck me. Deepak says to “plan your life around desire.” That sounded a tad bit selfish to me at first, but when you think about it, it’s not. Life would be so much less interesting without any desires! Deepak explains that the highest desire is to grow and evolve. I like to think I live in a “growth mindset” or as Gretchen Rubin says “live in an atmosphere of growth.” When we think about desire this way, it makes more sense to want to plan your life around your desires.

If I didn’t have the desire to heal and recover from my back and neck issues, I would have never met such an incredible group of women. And I never would have had that positive support system to help carry me along. If I didn’t have interests or passions I never would have returned to my book club after missing out for so long. My love of books and the desire to see my old friends opened me up to books I wouldn’t have chosen on my own.

All of these small desires just make life better. If nothing else, the last two or three years has taught me that going after and pursing those desires are incredibly important. All the actions I took made huge, sweeping changes in my life that made me significantly happier, calmer and healthier. Without desire, where would I have been?

This week ask yourself what your life would look like without desires, interests or passions! I think we all know how that would make us feel, but it’s a good exercise to go through to remind us what makes us feel alive!

Thank for being here!
